Born in 1950 in the village of Kotelnikovo, Oboyansk district, Kursk region. Over the years, he replaced about a dozen schools, moving with his parents from the center of Russia to the Urals, then to Siberia, then to the Far East. And although his dream from childhood was to become an artist, after graduating in 1968 from a secondary school in the village of Stroitel (now the city of Builder) of the Belgorod Region, Gennady entered the Faculty of History of Kharkiv University. V.N. Karazin (evening department) He combines his studies with work as a loader at the plant named after Malysheva, then a concrete worker at ZhBK-2. Along the way, she is engaged in vocals in the vocal studio of Kharkov University, where at that time teachers from the local conservatory, shortly before it was renamed the Institute of Arts named after I.P. Kotlyarevsky. These teachers are associate professors I.G. Azbel and I.I. Kozlovskaya - advised the young student to engage in singing professionally. This coincided with the desire of G. Sheverev himself, but soon he was planned to be drafted into the army, and from 1970 to 1972. he serves in the armed forces - the last one and a half years, by the way, he has served at a military airfield in the Tula region (the city of Efremov) - without suspecting, of course, that in a few years the Tula region will become his permanent residence and where he will be destined to work long and fruitfully. In the army, Sergeant Sheverev enters the correspondence school of military commanders, becomes a regular contributor to the newspaper of the Moscow Air Defense District “At the military post”, which makes him think of going to journalism. At one time, he even intended to enter Moscow University. However, the love of singing overpowered. After the demobilization, G. Sheverev, realizing that the desire to become an archaeologist in him had died away, entered the Kharkov Institute of Arts in the preparatory department of the vocal faculty. The Philharmonic Society, headed by the famous organizer of concert business in Russia, People's Artist of the RSFSR I.A. Mikhailovsky, flourished and was considered one of the best in the USSR. Immediately, G. Sheverev actively participated in the concert activities of the music and lecture department, taking part in various programs dedicated to official holiday and anniversary dates, the works of Russian and foreign composers, traveling with concerts to cities and villages of the Tula region, working in schools, cultural houses and dispensaries. In 1985, he and his delegation went to Poland, to the twin city of Tula - Walbrzych. This was the first trip abroad, which gave a new impetus to the work of the singer. Soon, he improves his qualifications, gets the right to sing alone with the concert department, which at that time was an undoubted creative achievement, especially for a provincial concert organization. The heyday of his creative activity falls on the 90s. It was during these years that he traveled abroad four times: twice in 93 (Germany and the States), in 97 (Germany) and 98 (Bulgaria). Three times during these years he sang in Moscow, in the museum of F.I. Chaliapin. I went to sing in the apartment of F.I. Chaliapin in St. Petersburg. He sang in 1994 the first solo concert in his life (31 pieces). In the same years he received the title of Honored Artist. G.M.Sheveryov also tries himself in the role of a literary reader and lecturer-musicologist. He prepared several programs for schoolchildren and youth audiences: “Between Good and Evil”, “Dueling Stories”, “War and Peace in Tolstoy’s Soul”, “The Radiance of the Silver Age”, “The Little Humpbacked Horse”, etc. He regularly publishes his stories, essays and essays in the literary almanac of TULA, as well as in the collection of memoirs “WE REMEMBER!”.
