Cornelis Theophillus Jacobus (Kes) Juffermans ( niderl. Cornelis Theophillus Jacobus "Cees" Juffermans ; born February 10, 1982 , Stompweik , Netherlands ) - Dutch short trekist , three-time medalist of the European Short Track Championships 1999 , 2001 and 2005 . Member of the Winter Olympics in 2002 and 2006 [1] .

Sports career

Kes Jufermans was born in the Stompveyk settlement , province South Holland . Since childhood, worked on the basis of the club "IJsclub Nut en Vermaak". In 2016, he was elected new chairman of the KNSB Athletes Committee [2] . He is married to the former Dutch short trekistke - Lisbet Mau Asam .

The first medal in an international competition, Yuffermans won at the 1999 European Short Track Championships in the Dutch city of The Hague . In the 1000 m race, Kuys won the silver medal with a score of 1: 31.226, giving up the championship to the opponent from France (1: 30.842 - 1st place), overtaking the German athlete (1: 31.322 - 3rd place) [3] .

The last medal in its asset, Yuffermans won the 2005 European Short Track Championships in Italy, Turin . In the 5000 m relay, the Dutch skaters with a score of 7: 13.490 won silver medals, giving up primacy to rivals from Germany (7: 07.874 - 1st place), but overtaking competitors from Ukraine (7: 15.877 - 3rd place) [4] [5] .

At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Uffermans was the only Dutch participant to compete in 500, 1,000 and 1,500 meters [6] . At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Uffermans was announced for performances at 500, 1000 and 1500 meters [7] .
