Former settlement names: Pokrovskoye, Skorodnoye, Skorodna. For the first time, Skorodnoye village was mentioned in the census book of the Oryol district of 1594-1595, clerk Leonty Sofonov and scribe Dementy Yakovlev. The parish in the village has been known since the end of the 16th century.
At least three centuries Kleimenovo was the Shenshin estate. In 1749, Pyotr Afanasyevich Shenshin built a single-throne stone church at the village cemetery in the name of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary (not preserved). Here, the cousin of the famous Russian poet Afanasy Fet , Vasily Petrovich Shenshin, as well as his father Afanasy Neofitovich Shenshin and his mother Elizaveta Petrovna Shenshina (nee Charlotte Becker, by her first husband, Fet) were buried in the cemetery [2] .
Athanasius Fet (Shenshin) often came here in his youth. Here lived his brother Vasily Afanasevich Shenshin, after which the daughter of the estate became his daughter Olga Vasilyevna Galakhova, the same Fet was appointed guardian. In 1892, according to his will, the poet was buried in a family crypt in Kleimenovo, and in 1894 his wife Maria nee Botkina was buried there [3] .
By 1890, according to the project of A. A. Himets, a new brick church was built and consecrated instead of a decaying stone with the money of parishioners.
