Morina, Rrahman

Rahman Morina ( Serb. Rahman Morina / Rahman Morina ; 1943 - October 12, 1990) is a Yugoslav police officer and communist politician. Being a Kosovar , he was remembered as an opponent of Albanian separatism .

Career start

Morina began her career as an agent of the Ministry of the Interior of Yugoslavia, and later in the Kosovo Communist League. He grew up in office and was appointed in 1981 by the Minister of the Interior of Kosovo, and thus held the highest position in the provincial law enforcement agencies. In March of that year, at the height of the unrest in Kosovo, he called the national police to quell the uprising without informing or consulting the local government. This act contributed to the resignation of the Kosovo party leader, Mahmut Bakali , since the latter was not sufficiently accountable in the eyes of the government in Belgrade .

Leadership in Kosovo

In 1988, Morina was made leader of the Kosovo wing of the Union of Communists of Yugoslavia because of the “ ” Slobodan Milosevic removed Azem Vlasi and Kachusha Yashari from leadership of the party’s Kosovo wing and appointed him, since Morina was one of the very few non-Slavic opponents of trends Kosovo Albanian separatism.

Morina testified that he is a strong representative of the Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic, although he initially despised Morina. The Serbian leader once went to Yugoslav President Lazar Moisov , fiercely demanding that Morina be expelled from the Kosovo government. Milosevic even threatened to leave his post as leader of the Union of Communists of Serbia if Morin fails to dismiss. In 1989, Morina left the political structures of Kosovo during a miners' strike .

Death

He died in 1990 at the age of 47, under suspicious circumstances in Pristina , participating in the constituent congress of the Kosovo branch of the Socialist Party of Serbia . A heart attack was declared the official cause of death, but persistent rumors say that he was actually poisoned at the congress.

Personal life

His wife was Bratislava “Buba” Morina, a Serbian lawyer, government minister and refugee commissioner in Serbia.
