History

According to information for 1859, the List of Populated Places of the Russian Empire is referred to as the treasury village of Dubovy Gai of the Khvalynsk district of the Saratov province , located on the right side of the highway from the Khvalynsk river to the apartment of the second camp at 38 miles from the county town . In the village there were 50 yards, 238 men and 273 women lived [2] . According to the census of 1897, 708 residents lived in the village of Dubovy Gai, of which 408 were Orthodox, 268 were Old Believers ( beglopopovtsi ) [3] .

According to the List of populated areas of the Saratov province of 1914, the village of Dubovy Gai belonged to the Sosnovo-Mazinsky volost . According to information in 1911, there were 118 households in the village, 395 men and 426 women lived, mostly former state peasants , Great Russians , who made up one rural society . In the village there was an Orthodox church, a single-faith church, a parish school [4] .

Physico-geographical characteristics

The village is located within the Volga Upland , which is part of the East European Plain , on the left bank of the Tereshka River, at an altitude of about 70 meters above sea level [5] . The soils are residual carbonate chernozems [6] .

The village is located about 34 km in a straight line in a westerly direction from the district center of the city of Khvalynsk . By road, the distance to the regional center is 43 km, to the regional center of the city of Saratov - 220 km [7] .
