Description

Day butterflies with a wingspan of 50-75 mm. Females are larger than males. Coloring males with blue or violet bright tint. The color of the females is brown-brown. The outer edge of the front wings is slightly wavy, the edge of the hind wings is noticeably wavy. The underside is brighter with a “dissecting” color, with the obligatory presence of ocular spots on the upper and lower wings in the cell Cu1-Cu2. The central cells of the front and rear wings are not closed. On the fore wings, the veins R1, R2 do not branch and originate from the central cell. R3, R4, R5 have a common trunk, which also starts from the central cell. Veins R1 and R2 go to the costal (front) edge of the front wing, vein R3 to the apex, and veins R4 and R5 to the outer edge. Hind wings with a small eye in the anal corner. Head with bare eyes (without hairs), labial palps covered with scales. Antenna with a gradually thickening mace.

The caterpillar has a green body with yellow stripes and dots, without spines, on the head and on the end of the body there are two outgrowths.
