Located next to Rumbek High School (in the city center), 377 km northwest of Juba .
History
During his visit to Lakes State in February 2006, President Omar Al-Bashir promised to build a university here. Later, the delegation of the National Fund for Student Support arrived in Rumbek to discuss with government authorities the tolerances and measures for arranging future university students. The discussions were attended by Badr Eddin Mohamed and Abdel Mohammed Ahmed from the NFPS, Professor Samuel Machar, Secretary General of the University of Rumbek and Gordon Dot, Director of Public Relations at the University of Rumbek. 10 million Sudanese pounds were allocated for the construction of the university. [2]
