Heinz Trautsch was born on October 2, 1927 in the city of Weida, the district of Greitz, Thuringia , Germany in a working class family. After graduating from junior high school, he joined the Imperial Labor Service . In Germany, since June 1935, every German young man had to undergo a six-month labor service prior to military service. In 1944, after the end of service in this National Socialist organization, he entered the infantry service in the Wehrmacht. After the defeat and unconditional surrender of Germany, H. Troutsh was captured by the English, from which he was soon released.

Returning from captivity, H. Troutsh in 1945 became a member of the Communist Party of Germany of the KKE, and in 1946 joined the ranks of the Socialist United Party of Germany . Until 1949 he made a living working as a laborer, a driver.

In August 1949 he joined the armed forces of the German Democratic Republic, graduated from the People’s Police School in 1950. After passing the exams in the stake, he was sent to serve as commander of an artillery battalion. From 1951 to 1952 he studied at the anti-aircraft artillery school in Pinnuwa. Upon graduation, until 1955, he remained to work as a teacher at school. From 1957 to 1958 he was the first deputy commander of the 1st division of anti-aircraft artillery of the German Democratic Republic, subsequently renamed the 1st Air Defense / Air Defense Division.

From 1958 to 1959 he studied at military educational institutions of air defense in the USSR. After the return of H. Troutsh to the German Democratic Republic, until 1961 he served as commander of a training battalion of the Air Force / Air Defense Forces. During these years, missile forces were created in the GDR and H. Troutsh was appointed deputy commander of the air defense forces in 1961.

In 1968 he was sent to study in the USSR. He studied from 1968 to 1971 at the Military Order of Lenin of the Red Banner Order of Suvorov of the Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the USSR named after K. E. Voroshilov (now the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation .

From 1972 to 1981, Heinz Troutsh served as deputy chief of the country's Air Force / Air Defense. March 1, 1974 he was awarded the title of Major General, and March 1, 1981 - the title of Lieutenant General. From that time until his retirement, Heinz Troutsh served as Deputy Chief of the Air Force / Air Defense Forces of the GDR.

On December 31, 1987, Lieutenant General Trautsh was fired due to reaching the age limit for his rank.
