Koz ( Osset. Kyoz , cargo. კოზი - Kozi ) is a village in the Caucasus , part of the Dzau region of South Ossetia ( Onsky municipality of the region of Racha-Lechkhumi and Lower Svaneti of Georgia ).

Refers to the Fazykau (Fazikau) rural administration in South Ossetia . [5]

Geography

The village is located in the Koz gorge on the right bank of the Kozidon River (a tributary of the Garula River, which flows into the Rioni ), 8 km north of the city of Kvaysa . [6] .

Historically, the village of Koz included three settlements:

  • Upper Koz ( Ossetian. Ullag Kyoz , cargo. ზემო ქოზი - Zemo-Kozi , turned into ruins [7] ),
  • Middle Goats ( Ossetian Astæukkag Kyoz , cargo. შუა ქოზი - Shua-Kozi ),
  • Lower Koz ( Ossetian. Dællag Kyoz , cargo. ქვემო ქოზი - Kvemo-Kozi ).

Population

In 1987, 230 people lived in Kozi, including 130 in Kvemo-Kozi and 100 in Shua-Kozi [7] .

According to the 2015 census, the population of the village of Koz as a whole amounted to 40 inhabitants [4] .
