Biography
He graduated from the prestigious Lyceum of Henry IV in Paris , where Henri Bergson was one of his favorite teachers. Thibode's first publication was his symbolic drama in poetry and prose, called The Black Swan (Le Cygne rouge, 1897). The drama was written under the influence of Stephen Mallarmé .
In 1912, Thibode was first published in La Nouvelle Revue française . Since then, he was regularly published in this journal until his death [3] . He was acquainted with the philosopher and anthropologist Lucien Levy-Bruhl , who in 1928 invited him to participate in Davos University courses along with other intellectuals in France and Germany. He taught at New York and Geneva Universities .
Creativity
In 1924, Thibode published a two-volume study, Bergsonism. This material-rich work was welcomed by critics and Henri Bergson himself.
Thibode is the author of monographs on the works of writers Stefan Mallarmé (1912), Gustave Flaubert (1922), Paul Valerie (1924), Stendhal (1931). His work on Montaigne (1963) was posthumously published.
He also published The History of French Literature from 1789 to the Present Day (1936) and The Physiology of Criticism (1930), as well as a sociological study of the Republic of Professors (1928) on French intellectuals.
Memory
In 2008, the Thucydides Center at the University of Pantheon-Assas established the Albert Thibode Prize for French-language works on international relations.
