"A Problem from Hell": America and the Age of Genocide ) is a book by Professor Samantha Power that talks about ethnic cleansing (from the Armenian Genocide to the events in Kosovo) and reactions to them US government. In 2003, for writing a book, the author was awarded the Pulitser Prize [1] .

In her book, Samantha Power shows that American politicians were very reluctant to characterize mass atrocities as genocide, and if there were no significant pressure from the American public, politicians, for the sake of national interests, would not use the term "genocide" [2] .

US President Barack Obama , after reading the book, invited Samantha Power to his team [3] .

The first chapter of the book talks about the Armenian genocide , its consequences and the international reaction to the atrocities committed by the Turks. The following chapters describe the efforts of Rafael Lemkin trying to convince American society to oppose Nazi actions in Europe, the difficulties of recognizing the Holocaust by the Americans and their allies, and the adoption of the UN bill to prevent genocides. In addition, the book talks about US foreign policy, as well as a number of other genocides (Cambodia, Iraq, Bosnia, Rwanda and Kosovo) and the reaction of the US government to them.
