Biography

Ivan Naryshkin was born in 1658 in the family of Kirill Poliyektovich Naryshkin ; his name in the bit records does not occur until September 1, 1674, when he is already a stolnik and " neighbor man ". They married him very early: on October 1, 1674, his wife, Praskovya Alekseevna ( nee Princess Lykova ) dined with Tsarina Natalia Kirillovna in the Golden Tsarina Chamber [1] .

After the death of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich and the accession of Fyodor Alekseevich to the throne, the Naryshkins family lost its former importance, and Miloslavsky , relatives of the young tsar by his mother, Tsaritsa Mary Ilyinishna , took the leading place at the court. Soon, doctor Davyd Berlov informed Ivan Kirillovich that the latter had been telling his " Holder Ivan Eagle " to kill the Tsar. As a result of this denunciation, Ivan Kirillovich Naryshkin, by the decision of the Boyar Duma, was sentenced to martyrdom , but by order of the king, the execution was canceled and he was exiled to Ryazan [2] , where he was commanded to " be for the bailiff ". It is not known exactly when Ivan Kirillovich was returned from exile, but on the day of the tsar Fyodor Alekseevich’s funeral he was already in Moscow [1] .

On May 7, 1682, after the massacre of the archers colonels , Tsar Peter Alekseevich was solemnly exiled to the Kremlin Councils, and then various rewards were distributed to relatives and supporters of the Naryshkins, Ivan Kirillovich was granted by the boyar and the gunsmith, and this aroused envy and discontent among the boyars. A week later, on May 15, Miloslavsky and Tolstoy galloped along the Archer settlements and called the archers to the Kremlin for service, shouting that the Naryshkins had strangled Tsarevich John Alekseevich . Archers hit the alarm, beat the drums and moved to the palace with banners and cannons. When the queen, together with the patriarch and the boyars, led Peter and John Alekseevich to the Red Porch, the crowd subsided [1] .

The enemies of the Naryshkins realized that if you miss this decisive moment, then the archers will see deception, and then they will be in trouble. They began to shout that Ivan Naryshkin tried on the crown and various royal ornaments; that although Prince John is alive, he is in danger. Sagittarius is furious. They killed Matveyev , Prince Dolgoruky and the steward of FP Saltykov, who was taken for one of the Naryshkins. The same fate of Queen Athanasius Kirillovich , who hid in the hay church of the Resurrection under the throne and was issued by a dwarf, did not pass the same fate [1] .

The next morning, the archers again appeared to demand the extradition of Ivan Kirillovich. On this day, Ivan Kirillovich with his father, with his younger brothers and with his son Matveeva took refuge first in the rooms of the little princess Natalia Alekseevna , and then in the distant chambers of Queen Marfa Matveevna , the widow of Fyodor Alekseevich. On May 17, the archers began to threaten that if Ivan Kirillovich was not given to them, they would kill all the boyars. Queen Natalia Kirillovna did not have support, there was no adviser. The boyars were confused and looked at the extradition of Ivan Kirillovich to the archers as if they were buying their own life. I had to submit. Ivan Kirillovich was assigned to the Church of the Savior behind the Golden Grid; there he confessed, joined the Holy Mysteries, and collected himself. Ivan Kirillovich courageously prepared for the martyr's demise. Ivan Naryshkin told the princess:

" I am not afraid of death, I wish only that my innocent blood should stop the bloodshed ."

When he left the church, the archers attacked him with shouts and scolding and led him to torture in the prison chambers of the Konstantin-Eleninsky tower as a state traitor , encroaching on the life of John Alekseevich. Ivan Kirillovich endured all torture [1] .

On May 17 (27), 1682, he was pulled out of a dungeon on Red Square and cut into pieces [1] . Three days later, pieces of the flesh of Ivan Kirillovich Naryshkin were collected at Lobnoye and given to Tsarina Natalya Kirillovna, who buried them in the High Petrovsky Monastery [1] [3] [4] .

After him, they tortured and killed Dr. von Gaden, court physician to Tsar Fyodor Alekseevich. These were the last killings. It seemed as if the archers had fulfilled their duty and set off from Red Square to the Moscow Kremlin to the palace with expressions of loyalty to the royal family. However, in the end, for many of the instigators of the rebellion, it all ended very badly [1] .
