London String Quartet Competition

London International String Quartet Competition since 2010. Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition is a string quartet competition performing academic music , founded in 1979 . in London, Yehudi Menuhin and Ifra Niman . The competition is held every three years.

The competition was held by the London String Quartet Foundation ( London String Quartet Foundation ), and in 2010 came under the administration of the famous London Wigmore Hall . The first prize - the Menukhin Prize - amounted to 12,000 pounds in 2006, and in 2015 the first prize was 10,000 pounds. A number of additional prizes were awarded or awarded at the competition, including the Esterhazy Prize (for the best performance of Haydn's quartets), the Amadeus Prize (for the best performance of Mozart's quartets) and the Audience Award.
