Cypress [2] [3] , Cypress ( 4) [5] ( Greek: πυπαρισσιακ ) is a large open bay of the Ionian Sea in Greece , in the west of the Peloponnese . In the north it starts from the cape of Katakolon ( Κατάκολον ) [3] at the village of the same name , in the south it ends at Cape Cunelos ( Greek Κούνελο ) at Filiatra . Length - 18 kilometers, width - 51 kilometers. Depth more than 500 meters. The tides are semi-diurnal, their value is 0.2 meters. The Alfios and Neda rivers flow into the Cypriesiakos [6] .

The coast is a large uninterrupted sandy beach. There is a loggerhead turtle ( Caretta caretta ) on the beach, mainly between the mouth of Neda and Cypressia . Because of the sandy soil there are no settlements on the coast. Three kilometers from the coast is Pirgos , two kilometers - Zakharo .
Along the coast is the national road 9 , part of the European route E55 .
