Numerology

In numerology, all numbers can be reduced to unambiguous, which correspond to certain qualities of a person’s character, by adding the numbers of the birthday, month, year, and also together (for example, day + month), all numbers of the date of birth. Each number is assigned certain properties, concepts and images.

Numerology has a fairly ancient origin. Perhaps the emergence of numerology is due to the fact that, in ancient alphabets (for example, in Hebrew ) letters were used to write numbers, therefore having numerical values.

Now it is impossible to establish exactly when numerology originated , for the reason that in ancient times (in Babylon , India, Egypt, Greece and Rome ) no such separate field of knowledge was allocated. The same scientists studied numbers in terms of both philosophy and mathematics.

Pythagoras

The main provisions of the current version of Western numerology were developed in the VI century BC. er the ancient Greek philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras , who combined the mathematical systems of Arabs, Druids, Phoenicians and Egyptians with the sciences of human nature ^[1]

Numerology in Kabbalah

Numerology was especially important in Kabbalah , where its variety is known as gematria .

Kabbalists expanded the Pythagorean concept using numbers in magic squares for various purposes. With the discovery in the 19th century by scientists of the nature of light, electricity, and magnetism , ancient occult meanings attributed to numbers began to be attributed to vibrations of energy.

Reduce numbers to numbers

To reduce large numbers in elementary, different systems have been developed. Since in the world there is a huge number of different names, names written in different languages, and in different centuries numerologists have tried to reduce them to a limited number of species. To do this, all names are converted into numbers by applying existing conditional correspondences between numbers and letters, for example, the Russian alphabet . There are many different numerological tables, starting with the usual arrangement of letters in the modern alphabet of a particular language, as well as the arrangement of letters in accordance with more ancient alphabets, or not very ancient. Many numerologists believe that only their table is correct, for example, an ancient, inherited. Some numerologists believe that this or that information can be opened through numerology at the right time, and in the right place, both for a living person and a historical person.

Some numerologists practice finding answers to certain questions by divining in the Bible . To do this, the question is converted using numerological tables into the number by which a chapter or verse is searched.

In different cultures, tradition required “fitting” the observed world to the archetypes of consciousness. So many stable, but physically completely unfounded representations were born: the four-component (European) and five-component (Asian) theory of taste , 7 colors of the rainbow among Europeans and 6 colors among the British.

From a scientific point of view, numbers do not matter on their own and do not affect a person’s life. Therefore, numerology is superstition and pseudoscience, which uses numbers to give numerology the appearance of a scientific gloss ^[2] . Skeptics conducted two scientific tests of numerological principles and methods, which gave negative results. One in the UK in 1993 ^[3] and the second in 2012 in Israel. A professional numerologist and 200 participants took part in the Israeli experiment. The experiment was repeated twice and again reproduced negative results. ^[four]
