Crane ( English Crane ) - a city in the United States , located in the western part of Texas , the administrative center of the eponymous district . According to the 2010 census, the number of inhabitants was 3353, according to the US Census Bureau in 2016, 3,723 people lived in the city [3] .

Content
History
The settlement was founded in 1908 and named after the president of Baylor University, William Crane. The city is the only one in the okrug, it has the only post office in the okrug. In 1926, an oil field was discovered in the district, and this discovery led to population growth and the development of Crane. Gradually, utilities began to be provided in the city, including water supply, schools and other service enterprises were opened. In 1972, a special edition of the Crane News newspaper reported a billionth oil barrel in the region. The city remains an important center for providing services to oil industry enterprises [4] .

According to the 2010 census, 3353 people lived in the city, there were 1124 households and 871 families. The racial makeup of the city: 72.6% are white , 3.1% are African Americans , 1% are Native Americans, 0.3% are Asians , 0% (0 people) are residents of Hawaii or Oceania, 20.4% are others. races, 2.6% - two or more races. The number of Hispanic residents of any race was 57% [9] .
Out of 1,124 households, children under 18 live in 45.9%. 61.7% of households were married couples (30.5% with children under 18 years of age), women lived without husbands in 11.1% of households, men lived without wives in 4.7% of households, 22.5% of households were not families. Only one person lived in 19.2% of the households, 8.1% were single elderly people (over 65). The average household size was 2.97 people. The average family size is 3.44 people [9] .
The population of the city by age range was as follows: 34.2% - residents under 20 years old, 23.9% are between the ages of 20 and 39, 31.8% are between 40 and 64, 10.1% are 65 and older . The average age is 33.7 years [9] .
According to surveys of five years from 2012 to 2016, the average household income in Crane is 66,261 US dollars per year, the average household income is 75,203 dollars. The per capita income for the city is $ 25,523. About 10.5% of families and 9.4% of the population are below the poverty line. Including 11.5% under the age of 18 years and 9.4% over 65 years of age [10] .

City management is carried out by the mayor and the city council, consisting of 6 people, selected in three districts [11] .
Infrastructure and transport
The main motorways passing through Crane are:
- US 385 motorway runs north from Odessa south to McCaimy.
- Texas Highway 329 runs from the southeast of Rankin to the west of Grandfalls.
The city is home to Crane County Airport. The airport has two runways 1263 and 1035 meters long [12] . The closest airport for commercial flights is the . The airport is located about 70 kilometers north of Crane.
Education
The city is served by the Crane Independent School District.
Economics
According to the city budget for the 2014-2015 fiscal year, the planned revenues of the city in 2015 amounted to approximately $ 4.61 million, expenses - $ 3.19 million [13] .
Recreation and Entertainment
The city is home to the Museum of Desert Southwest Desert .
