Biography

Yuri Dmitrievich Ryzhkov was born in December 1916 in the village of Shirki, Orel Province. In 1940 he graduated from the natural faculty of the Smolensk Pedagogical Institute, then, in 1947, he graduated from the Saratov State Medical Institute (now the Saratov State Medical University ).

After graduation, he worked as an assistant in the Department of Biochemistry of the Saratov Medical Institute. In 1951 he defended his thesis on the subject “V. Proteus vulgaris hyaluronidase” and was awarded the degree of candidate of medical sciences, after which, since 1954, he worked as a director of the Chita Medical Institute (now Chita State Medical University) as a member of the Komsomol Central Committee and the USSR Ministry of Education. Academy (CHMI) For several years he was chairman of the Sino-Soviet Friendship Society.

From 1963 to 1980 he worked as rector of the Rostov State Medical Institute. During the years of the scientist’s work in this position, a central research laboratory (TsNIL) was created at the institute, new departments of the faculty for advanced medical education were organized, an internship was opened in 1967, and a patent-licensing department was opened in 1971.

The scientist's scientific interests are: hyaluronic acid - hyaluronidase enzymatic system, the study of fat metabolism in Botkin's disease; questions of the use of radioactive isotopes in the diagnosis and treatment of human diseases.

In 1976, according to the results of the work, Yu. D. Ryzhkov was awarded the academic title of professor. Over the years, Yu. D. Ryzhkov has published about 80 scientific papers, published about 30 teaching materials.

Yuri Dmitrievich Ryzhkov died on January 18, 1983 in Rostov-on-Don.
