Shrines
Rabbi Elias Abraham Rosenberg came to Hawaii from San Francisco in 1886 . He made friends with the last king of the Hawaiian Islands of Kalakaua, telling him stories from the Old Testament and teaching him Hebrew . In 1887, due to political unrest, Rosenberg was forced to return to San Francisco. Before leaving, he left his Torah and Poison (Torah pointer) to the king [1] . The royal family handed the Torah and Poison of Rosenberg to the temple of Eman-El and now they are constantly in the main sanctuary [2] .
