Story
In one of Indiana's cities , a sniper shoots six times and kills five. The evidence left by the shooter leads to former soldier James Barr. During interrogation, Barr says he did not, and asks to find a certain Jack Reacher.
Seeing on television the plot of the massacre, Reacher, a former military police major , himself goes to Indiana. Instead of helping Barr, Jack intends to denounce him. According to Jack, he is the last person James would like to see. During the Persian Gulf War, Barr shot four of them in a similar way, and Reacher, investigating the matter, vowed to kill James if this happened again. Unfortunately, Barra is beaten in prison and he loses his memory.
Sister Barra Rosemary is convinced of her brother's innocence and hires lawyer Helen Rodin to defend him. Helen's father is the district attorney who will represent the prosecution in this case. Anne Yanni, a local news anchor, also leads a journalistic investigation and Reacher offers her a collaboration. As an experienced shooter, Reacher understands that the distance from the garage where the killer was sitting to the victims is negligible for an experienced sniper like Barr. Consequently, one shot deliberately did not reach the target.
Reacher travels to Kentucky at the shooting range where Barr practiced, and discovers that James is no longer as good at shooting as before. Jack realizes that Barr is not guilty. The investigation leads him to the leader of the Russian mafia , who “ordered” the killing of a particular person.
