History
Dynamo Kyiv, which, after a 7-year break, was again headed by Valery Lobanovsky , did not meet any serious competition on the way to the championship and continued its hegemony in Ukrainian football. Shakhtar Donetsk won silver medals, rehabilitating themselves for failing in the previous season (10th place). The third unexpectedly was the debutant team of the major league - Poltava Vorskla. In turn, the winners of last season - βChernomoretsβ and βDneprβ - took only 7th and 4th places respectively.
