Hawaiian religion ( Hawaiian mythology ) - ancient traditional religious beliefs, myths and legends of Hawaiians . The traditional Hawaiian religion was animistic polytheism , idolatry (paganism), which included faith in many deities and spirits, in which even human sacrifices and a cult of the bones and relics of the deceased took place. But this religion has practically not survived [1]

Deities
The polytheistic Hawaiian religion had 4 main gods ( Akua ):
- Kane is the supreme god, the progenitor of all leaders in Hawaiian mythology.
- Ku - the god of war, is also considered one of the gods who created the world [2] .
- The Womb is the god of fertility, agriculture, rain and music in Hawaiian mythology.
- Canaloa is the god of the ocean and ocean winds [3] .
The Hawaiian pantheon also included the following groups of gods:
- many gods and goddesses ( kupua )
- perfume and guardians ( aumakua )
The Current State of Religion in Hawaii
In Hawaii, there is a special law on religious freedom of the American Indians [4] . Currently, the largest religious organization in Hawaii is the Catholic Church , where there are about 250 thousand parishioners [5] .
According to data for 2000 in Hawaii, representatives of various religious denominations are distributed in the following percentage ratio:
- Christianity : 351,000 (28.9%)
- Buddhism : 110,000 (9%)
- Judaism : 10,000 (0.8%)
- Other: 100,000 (10%) - includes Baha'iism , Confucianism , Taoism , Hawaiian paganism, Hinduism , Islam , Sikhism , Shintoism , Scientology , Wicca , Zoroastrianism and other religions.
- Not belonging to any of the religions: 650,000 (51.1%)
