Description

The cascade consists of two oblong-oval ponds with an area of 0.5 ha each. The length of the Upper Pond is 140 meters, the width is up to 40 meters. The sizes of the Lower reservoir - 120 and 30 meters, respectively [1] .

Water flows from the Upper Pond to the Lower, then merges into wells on the west bank. The cascade is powered mainly by groundwater , Kotlyakovka in this area is enclosed in an underground collector [1] .

History

In the press and literature several names are immediately used for the Korneyevsky ponds. The cascade is assigned a hydronym formed from the Kotlyakovka River, which is also called the Korneevsky or Pushkin Gully [3] . Arshinovsky ponds are named after the park in whose territory they are located [4] , and Bekhtereevsky ponds are named along the street of the same name west of the reservoirs [5] [6] .

There is a version according to which the Korneevsky ponds dug at the end of the XIX century when the Arshinovsky park was created. However, initially the reservoirs were not interconnected, it is reliably known that the modern cascade was created in the late 1970s [7] [8] .

Modernity

In 2005-2006, at the request of the Department of Nature Management and Environmental Protection of Moscow , ecological rehabilitation of the Korneevsky complex was carried out: the banks were strengthened with log piles and sprinkled with rubble , the coastal territory was planted with carpeted grass [1] . Then in the Lower Pond created an artificial island measuring 20x10 meters. In 2014, coastal recreation areas were arranged near water bodies [9] . In 2015, the ponds officially became part of the Arshinovsky Park [10] .

Fish are found in the ponds: perch , pike , tench , crucian carp and others [11] .
