Biography
Frost started violin at 5 years old. At 8, he began to learn to play the clarinet. [2] Studied with Hans Deinzer in Germany and Sölve Kingstedt and Kzell Inge Stevenson in Stockholm .
Frost collaborates with many contemporary composers, including Anders Hillborg , Krzysztof Penderetsky , Kalevi Aho , Rolf Martinsson, Bent Sorensen, Victoria Borisova-Ollas, Karina Renqvist and Sven-David Sandstrom.
Frost was the artistic director of the Winterfest Music Festival for 10 seasons until 2015. [3] He was the artistic director of the International Chamber Music Festival in Stavanger from 2010 to 2015. [4] In May 2017, the Swedish Chamber Orchestra announced the appointment of Frost as his next chief conductor, starting in the 2019–2020 season, with an initial contract of 3 seasons. [five]
In the USA in October 2014, Frost first played with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. Following the results of this concert in November 2014, the orchestra named Frost one of its partners, starting from the 2015-2016 season with an initial contract for 4 years. [6] Frost was due to appear in this position for the first time in November 2015, but failed due to Meniere's disease . [7] The consequences of the disease delayed the beginning of Frost's performance as an artistic partner of the orchestra until February 2017. [eight]
Frost lives with his family in Stockholm. He has recorded for labels such as BIS Records and Sony Classical. In May 2014, he received the Leoni Sonning Award, becoming the first clarinet player to receive such an honor.
