Biography

Born March 10, 1928. In 1950 he graduated from the Sverdlovsk College of Physical Culture, then - Leningrad Institute of Physical Culture. P. F. Lesthaft specialty "teacher of physical education."

From 1962 to 1970, he was a coach of the USSR women's ski team, including at the Olympic Games (1964, 1968) and world championships (1962, 1966). In 1964, entered in the Book of Honor of the Central Committee of the Komsomol and the Union of Sports Societies and Organizations of the USSR.

In 1967 he headed the department of winter sports of the Sverdlovsk (later Ural) State Pedagogical University [1] .

From 1968 to 1991 - member of the All-Union Coordinating Council for Research and Experimental Work in the Field of Ski Production. In 1978, he was awarded the VDNKh Silver Medal for the development and implementation of new ski models in industrial production.

During his coaching career Uzhentsev personally trained 30 masters of sports of international class and masters of sports of the USSR. The highest results among his pupils were achieved by Claudia Boyarsky , who became a three-time Olympic champion in 1964, a two-time world champion in 1966 [2] .

He died on March 28, 2008 in Yekaterinburg. He was buried in the Eastern cemetery of the city.

Family

He was married to a skier Ekaterina Maksimovna Vogulkina [3] . Son - Sergey Valerevich Uzhentsev [4] .

Memory

On May 24, 2013, a memorial plaque was opened on the house at Agronomicheskaya 22A, where Uzhentsev lived for many years, [5] .

Competitions of his memory are held annually [6] .
