The Legislature of the State of Hawaii ( Eng. Hawaii State Legislature ) - Legislative Assembly of the State of Hawaii . It is a bicameral parliament consisting of the Senate and the House of Representatives . In total, the legislature includes 76 people, each of which represents single-member districts of all the islands of the state. Legislature is empowered by article III of the Hawaiian .

History
The first legislature in the Hawaiian Islands , the , was created in accordance with . After the overthrow of the king in 1894, the legislature became the legislative body of the educated Republic of Hawaii , and then the US-incorporated Territory of Hawaii .
The current state legislature was formed in 1959 , when the Territory of Hawaii became part of the United States of America [1] .
Organization
Legislature of Hawaii consists of 2 houses. For elections to the upper house - the Senate - the state is divided into 25 constituencies, one senator from each of which is elected every four years, and during elections to the lower house - the House of Representatives - to 51 districts, each of which elects every two years its representative [2] . Neither senators nor representatives have restrictions on the number of terms.
The members of both chambers nominate by their votes the Chairperson of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. As a rule, these positions are held by representatives of the majority party.
In accordance with senators and representatives must be at least three years old in Hawaii and be of legal age.
