History
In the early 1920s, James Dole created the largest pineapple plantation in the world at that time. When it was decided to increase the number of workers, Dole built the city of Lanai City. The city had its own police station, prison, bank, hospital [1] .
Population
The population of the city is 3102 people according to the 2010 census. The racial makeup of the village consists of: 13.24% White , 0.13% African American , 0.38% Native American, 58.09% Asian , 7.02% Pacific Island, 0.32% from other races. The population by age is distributed as follows: 28.0% under the age of 18 years, 7.9% from 18 to 24 years old, 28.3% from 25 to 44 years old, 21.4% from 45 to 64 years old and 14.4 % who were 65 years or older. The average age of residents is 35 years.
Climate
The city has a tropical climate with dry summers and rainy winters. The maximum temperature rises to 33 degrees, the minimum 8 degrees.

Infrastructure
The city has a hospital, police station, library, theater, shops and 2 large resorts [2] .
Transport
6 km southwest of the city center is Lanai Airport [3] , which has been operating regularly since 1930. It has one runway and serves an average of 18 planned flights. This is the only airport on the island of Lanai.
