History
The specific village of Krasny Yar is mentioned in the List of Populated Places of the Russian Empire according to information for 1859. According to the List in the village of Krasny Yar, belonging to the Nikolaev district of the Samara province and located 92 miles from the county town , there were 212 yards, 705 men and 827 women lived, there was an Orthodox church [2] .
After the peasant reform, Krasny Yar became a volost village of the Krasnoyarsk volost . According to the population of the Samara province, according to information for 1889, 1637 residents lived in the village ( Russian Orthodox and schismatic religions), there were 424 yards, there were a church and 16 windmills. The village is located in the Volga region , on the right bank of the Bolshoi Irgiz River , at an altitude of about 20-25 meters above sea level [6] . Soils: in the Irgiz floodplain - floodplain neutral and slightly acidic, over the floodplain - southern chernozems [7] .
The village is located about 13 km in a straight line in a south-westerly direction from the regional center of the city of Balakovo . By road, the distance to the regional center is 16 km, to the regional center of the city of Saratov - 180 km [8] .
