History
The pavilion was built in 1952-1954 according to the project of architects Pavel Steller and Victor Lebedev . Decorated in the style of the Stalinist Empire . In plan, the building is rectangular, with a semicircular main facade concave inward, decorated with a colonnade. The frieze of the facade is decorated with ornaments in the Russian national style. A glazed gazebo , crowned with a metal figure depicting a wreath, is built over the main volume of the building. In the interior of the pavilion, it forms a glass light dome, decorated from the inside with stucco moldings with images of sheaves, ears and red stars [2] .
Initially, the pavilion housed the exposition “Central Black Soil Regions”, which represented the Oryol , Kursk , Voronezh , Tambov and Penza Regions at VDNH. Five years after the construction of the pavilion, the profile was changed, and an exposition dedicated to consumer cooperation in the USSR was located here. Until the early 1980s, it was called the Centrosoyuz (the content did not change during renaming). The exposition told about the development and features of the functioning of consumer cooperation in the country, the procurement of agricultural products, and the growth of trade. A separate place in the exposition was occupied by models of rural shops. The exposition lasted until the 1990s, when it was abolished. Currently, the pavilion houses a cafe [2] .
