Museum Activities
The museum was created in order to familiarize customs officers and the public with samples of the main imported and exported items, with smuggled goods and means of concealing smuggling. The museum builds its activities on traditional museology and at a level that meets the current requirements of our time. Using the experience of foreign museums, including the work of customs museums, the propaganda work of his collection is being carried out.
Exhibits of exhibits of the customs museum are carried out, mainly in EU countries . [four]
The museum's collection is extensive both in subject matter and from a regional point of view. The museum collection consists mainly of documents and photographs that reflect the history of customs, as well as works of art created by various masters. The museum displays exhibits covering various periods, as well as items seized during an attempt to smuggle out of Azerbaijan. The Museum of the History of Azerbaijan Customs, which displays various antique goods and other exhibits of historical and artistic value, testifies to the struggle of customs officers with smuggling and is an indicator of commitment to national interests and spiritual values. [5] Until 2006, customs officers of Azerbaijan transferred all confiscated art objects to museums. Then, work began on the systematization of the discovered antiques, which they were trying to export abroad. [6]
The collection of the branch of the Museum of the History of Customs of Azerbaijan has collected and stored pile and lint-free carpets, oriental sculptures of the first millennium, copper utensils widely used in everyday life, ancient coins [7] , ancient copies of the Holy Quran , ancient icons , jewelry, firearms XVII — XIX centuries, daggers seized while trying to smuggle out of Azerbaijan. The collection of the branch of the Museum of Customs has a department of modern fine art represented by works of painting, sculpture and decorative and applied art. This department was formed as a result of the joint efforts of the museum and the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan . [one]
