Malmgren, Harald

Harald Valdemar Malmgren ( Swede. Harald Valdemar Malmgren , May 4, 1904 , Avesta - February 15, 1957 , Uppsala ) - Swedish chess player . He played mainly in correspondence tournaments . In the 1930s He played in European competitions (several of his games are known with the future grandmaster P.P. Keres ). In 1942, Mr .. became the champion of Sweden by correspondence. The main sporting achievement is the sharing of 2-3 places with the Italian M. Napolitano in the 1st world correspondence championship (1950-1953). Malmgren and Napolitano scored 10 points out of 13 and half a point behind the Australian tournament winner S. Purdi . Malmgren was the only player to complete the tournament without a loss.
