Dmitri Vasilievich Rakovich ( May 11 [23], 1865 - 1918 ) - colonel of the Russian army. The military historian is a Caucasus historian and ethnographer . Full member of the Imperial Russian Geographical Society . The officer-tutor of the Pskov (1899), and then the Vladikavkaz (1902) cadet corps.

Biography
Orthodox religion. At the end of the Pskov Cadet Corps on August 27, 1884, he entered the service. On August 11 , 1886 from the cadets of the 3rd military school of Alexander was released on the 1st category in the 73rd Crimean Infantry Regiment [1] . Was promoted to second lieutenant with seniority of August 7, 1885 [2] .
On September 25, 1899, with the rank of lieutenant, he was seconded to the Pskov Cadet Corps . On September 24, 1900, he was promoted to captaincy [3] , and on November 9, 1901, he was transferred to the Pskov KK as a tutor officer [4] . April 28, 1902 in the same position was transferred to the Vladikavkaz Cadet Corps [5] [6] . From November 14 , 1911 - the company commander of the corps. In the same year for the difference produced in the colonels. As of August 1 , 1916 in the same rank and position [7] .
Rakovich was a full member of the Imperial Russian Geographical Society . In August 1918, the Terek Soviet Republic Commissariat of Public Education was appointed chairman of the Special Commission for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of the City of Vladikavkaz [8] .
He died in the same 1918.
Heritage
Rakovich had a personal archive, which, after his death, was acquired from his family by a Caucasian historian and archaeologist D. M. Pavlov , who was founded by the North Caucasian Institute of Regional Studies last in May 1920 in Vladikavkaz . In the future, materials from Rakovich’s personal archive served as useful sources for ethnographic studies of the Caucasus and provided exceptional value for studying the biography of M. Yu. Lermontov regarding his stay in the Caucasus [9] [10] .
