12th edition of Strada Bianca , a one-day road bike race on Italian roads. The race was held on March 3, 2018 as part of the UCI 2018 World Tour (category 1.UWT ).

Route

The race started in Piazzale della Liberta in front of the Medici fortress in Siena and finished in the very heart of the same medieval city in Piazza del Campo in the same city, after a small paved climb to Via Santa Caterina with a maximum gradient of up to 16%.

The 184-kilometer route included 63 kilometers (34.2% of the distance) of dirt roads divided into 11 sections.

In addition to dirt roads, the distance was characterized by a very wavy and bumpy course, accompanied by numerous bends. Among the climbs, Montalcino can be noted - 4 km with a gradient of 5%. As in previous issues, two kilometers from the finish line there was a climb to Porta di Fontebranda with a gradient of 9-10% and a maximum of 16% on the narrow paved lift of Via di Santa Caterina in the heart of the medieval city 500 meters to the finish line in the Piazza del Campo .
