History
The history of Arnun is closely linked to the nearby castle . The name of the settlement comes from the Aramaic Arnun , which means "small peak" on which Beaufort Castle stands. The castle itself is called Qal'at Shqif Arnoun ( Russian castle of high cliff on a hill ).
In 1875, Victor Geren noted that the castle contained one hundred “materials” (one of the Lebanese Shiites) [2] .
