It is located in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic in the Urup region . The peak rises above the village of the same name Zakan , which is located on the banks of the Zakan River . The "folk" name of the peak is Teschin's fang or Zakan's tooth. At the top is an Orthodox cross illuminated by Vladyka Theophanes.
