Haabneeme ( Est. Haabneeme ) is a village in the Viimsi parish of Harju County , located on the shores of the Tallinn Bay of the Baltic Sea , twelve kilometers along the highway from the center of Tallinn .

Number of inhabitants

By the number of inhabitants, Haabneeeme is the largest village of the Viimsi volost: 5634 people according to the 2011 census , of which 4817 (85.5%) are Estonians [2] .

In 2000, the population of the village was 1772 people [3] .

As of September 1, 2018, 6340 residents were registered in the village [4] .

History

Haabneeme was first mentioned in 1271 as the Apones [5] . In the Middle Ages, the Swedes settled in Haabneeme, who owned the small Haabneem manor ( German Habbinem ) and the fortress [5] .

In 1763, Fabian von Tiesenhausen sold the Haabneeme Manor along with the Lubja Manor to Count Karl Magnus von Stenbock , who owned the neighboring Viimsi Manor .

On the territory of the village are the ruins of the coastal protective battery number 13, which was part of the Sea Fortress of Emperor Peter the Great . Ruins are entered in the Estonian State Register of Cultural Monuments under the number 8897 [6] .

Haabneeme Garden Village, located on both sides of Rohuneem Street, originated in the 1960s . During the years of Soviet power in the east of the village was the center of the Reference and indicative fishing collective farm named after S. M. Kirov [7] .

Description

To the south of the village are the village of Viimsi and the village of Miiduranna , to the east - the village of Lubya and to the north - the village of Prigi .

The Viimsi-Rohuneem road runs from north to south through Haabneeme, with the Viimsi-Randvere road crossing the southwestern part.

In Haabneeme you will find the Viimsi High School, the Viimsi Library, the Viimsi Hospital, the Viimsi Tervis SPA Hotel, the family doctors center, a pharmacy and several shops that also serve the inhabitants of the nearby villages: Tammneem , Randvere , Metsakasti and others. In the southern part of the village is the Viims Stadium. Along with private and row houses in the village there are many four- and five-story apartment buildings.

The village is adjoined by a relief landscape reserve of the Haabneee cliff ledge, on the seashore there is a nature protection zone - the Viimsi black alder ( black ~ sticky alder ).
