Bredov, Roman Karlovich

Roman Karlovich Bredov (June 8 ( 20 ), 1839 - March 16 ( 28 ), 1891 ) - MD, obstetrician.

In 1855, with a gold medal, he graduated from the 1st St. Petersburg Classical Gymnasium and enrolled as a postgraduate student at the medical department of the St. Petersburg Medical and Surgical Academy ; in the fall of 1856 he was enrolled as a scholarship holder and in 1860 graduated from an academic course; He was awarded a certificate of merit, awarded the title of a doctor with honors and received the title of county doctor.

He was determined on October 12, 1860 at the Bobruisk Military Hospital, as a junior resident. However, at the same time, he was seconded for 2 years to the 2nd St. Petersburg Military Land Hospital for improvement in science and for two and a half years he studied obstetrics and gynecology under the guidance of Professor Krassovsky . Bredov went to Bobruisk to the duty station on June 20, 1863, but on January 17, 1864 he was returned to the Krassovsky clinic. Six months later, on July 19, 1864, at his own expense, Bredov went abroad, where he improved in science in Germany, France and England, and on November 19 of the same year returned to St. Petersburg. After leaving military service on April 25, 1865, he defended his dissertation (05/28/1866), in which he examined 514 cases of cesarean section and 588 cases of operations that reduce the volume of the fetus that he collected from literature and was awarded the degree of doctor of medicine. Since July 3, 1866, he was appointed junior resident of the 2nd military land hospital, continuing to perform all the duties of an assistant to the Krassovsky clinic, although he officially received the position of assistant in 1869, when the hospital was transformed into a clinical one and the staff positions of assistants were established in it . At the same time, he became an assistant not only in the hospital clinic, but also in the academic obstetric and gynecological clinic (until 1873). He held the post of assistant to the hospital clinic under both Professor Krassovsky and his successor Gorvits. In 1878, when Professor Slavyansky became the head of the hospital clinic, Bredov was dismissed from service at the academy.

Then he practiced in St. Petersburg for about 7 years and in September 1885 he was appointed senior doctor in the Shimkent military infirmary. In 1889, Bredov took the post of senior doctor at the Petro-Aleksandrovsky military infirmary.
