(9860) Archeopteryx ( lat. Archaeopteryx ) - an asteroid of the main belt , which is part of the Veritas family . It was discovered on August 6, 1991 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Elst at the La Silla Observatory and named after the archeopteryx , an extinct animal of the Jurassic period [1] .
