The women's 500k speed skating competition at the 2018 Winter Olympics was held on February 18 at the Gangneung Olympic Oval . For the first time since 1994, skaters ran a distance of 500 meters only once [1] . 32 athletes from 16 countries performed in the competition. Qualification for the Games was carried out according to the results of four stages of the 2017/2018 World Cup.
The current Olympic champion is Korean speed skater Lee San Hwa .
