History

According to the data of 1859, in the List of Populated Places of the Samara Province, the settlement is mentioned as the official and specific village of Kamenka, Nikolayevsky Uyezd , along the Bolshaya Irgiz River, located 12 versts from the district city of Nikolayevsk on the post road from Nikolayevsk to Volsk, Saratov Province. In the village there were 280 courtyards and lived 1,331 men and 1,396 women [2] .

After the peasant reform, Kamenka became the parish village of the Kamensky volost . According to the List of Populated Places of the Samara Province, according to information for 1889, there were 538 households in the village and 3,940 inhabitants (former state and specific peasants, Russians, Orthodox and Old Believers). In the village there were a church, a parish government , a contractor, a village bank, 1 water mill and 22 windmills worked [3] . According to the census of 1897, 2847 people lived in Kamenka, 2186 of them Orthodox , and 659 Old Believers [4] .

According to the List of Populated Places of the Samara Province in 1910, there were 574 courtyards in Kamenka and 1639 men and 1699 women lived there. The church, the prayer house, the Zemstvo and parish school, parish government, conscript, 12 windmills were functioning [5] .

Physical-geographical characteristic

The village is located in the Trans-Volga region , on the right bank of the Bolshaya Irgiz river , at an altitude of about 40 meters above sea level [6] . Soils: in the Irgiz floodplain - floodplain neutral and slightly acid, above the floodplain - southern chernozems [7] .

The village is located about 11 km in a straight line in the south-western direction from the district center of the city of Pugachev . On roads, the distance to the district center is 14 km, to the regional center of Saratov - 220 km, to Samara - 200 km [8] .
