Biography

Andrei Khusnutdinov was born on January 20, 1967 in Ferghana. He graduated from the Faculty of Philology of Kazakh State University. S. M. Kirova in Alma-Ata, majoring in Russian language and literature. He served in the Soviet army. Participant in the All-Union seminar of young writers working in the genre of adventure and science fiction literature, Dubulti, 1990. He works in the “twilight zone” between science fiction and the mainstream, to which he has recently gravitated. This causes, as a rule, a strongly polarized reading reaction. [1] At the same time, the literary critic Lev Danilkin, calling Khusnutdinov able to “subordinate the reader to the author, with imagination, with a taste for absurdity,” believes that he voluntarily renounced realism. [2] Andrei Khusnutdinov himself, judging by his stated approach to the distinction between the realistic and the fantastic, refers his works, at least of a later period, to the realistic direction. [3] Published in the magazines “Banner”, “October”, “Ural Pathfinder”, “Noon, XXI Century”, “Day and Night” and others. Lives in Alma-Ata.
