Stefanos Tsitsipas ( Greek Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς ; born August 12, 1998 , Athens , Greece ) is a Greek tennis player , the first Greek to enter the top 100 and top 10 world tennis ratings, the winner of three ATP singles tournaments, the winner of one junior Grand Slam Tournament in Doubles ( Wimbledon 2016 ), the former first racket of the world in the junior ranking.

Biography
The son of Soviet and Greek tennis player Julia Salnikova (Apostoli) and Apostolos Tsitsipas, the grandson of the Soviet football player and coach Sergei Salnikov . He has a sister Elizabeth and brothers Petros and Pavlos, all of them also play tennis.
He started playing tennis at the age of three with his parents. His coach is his father [2] . Favorite surface is grass; favorite tournament - Wimbledon ; an idol in the world of tennis in childhood called Roger Federer . In January 2019, the 20-year-old Stefanos knocked out his 37-year-old idol in the 1/8 Grand Slam tournament [3] .
He speaks Greek, Russian and English. A fan of the Olympiacos basketball and football clubs.
Sports career
2014-2015
In the finals, the Orange Bowl in 2014 and 2015 was inferior to the American Stefan Kozlov and Serb Miomir Ketsmanovich, respectively.
2016
In 2016, he won the junior Wimbledon doubles with Estonian . He became the second Greek tennis player after (who won Roland Garros and Wimbledon in 1963), who won the Grand Slam tournament in any age category.
2017
In 2017, he made his debut at the Grand Slam tournaments, having qualified for Roland Garros and Wimbledon and losing in the first round.
2018
In July 2018, Tsitsipas, being the first racket of Greece, reached the fourth round of the Wimbledon tournament . He defeated G. Barrere, J. Donaldson and T. Fabbiano, losing in the eighth finals in a bitter struggle to future semi-finalist John Isner - 4: 6, 6: 7, 6: 7. After Wimbledon, Tsitsipas withdrew from clay tournaments in Bostad and Gstaad , saying that he’s “used to give all the best on the court, but changing the coverage makes it impossible to participate in these tournaments” [4] .
In August 2018, at his first Masters ATP tournament in Toronto, Tsitsipas added sharply to the class, won three sensational victories over hard from tennis players from the first “ten” of the world ranking - over Novak Djokovic 6: 3, 6: 7, 6: 3, Alexander Zverev 3: 6, 7: 6, 6 : 4 and Kevin Anderson 6: 7, 6: 4, 7: 6. Following the Australlian Open, he reached the second round of the tournament in Sofia ( Bulgaria ), where in two sets he lost to the Frenchman Gael Monfils . In all matches, he won absolutely all sets, leaving the opponents no chance to fight. At the next tournament in Dubai ( UAE ) he reached the finals in which he met Federer, losing 6: 7, 6: 7 [6] . In March 2019, Tsitsipasa in the USA tournaments first lost to Canadian Felix Aliassim Oge 4: 6, 2: 6 in the 1/32 finals in Indian Wells, after which he reached the 1/8 finals in Miami, beating the American Mackenzie MacDonald 7: 6 , 6: 1 and Argentinean Leonardo Mayer 6: 4, 6: 4. In the 1/8 finals, he lost to Canadian Denis Shapovalov 6: 4, 3: 6, 6: 7.
In May, Tsitsipas participated in the Mutua Madrid Open . Sown under the eighth number, in the semi-finals beat Rafael Nadal [7] .
