The case became known after 333 years, in 1583, when the local church filed documents to rank Domingito as a saint. It is believed that the events described in these documents copy the case of Hugh Lincolnsky described by in Fortalitium Fidei [1] .

Legend
Domingito was the son of a notary Sancho de Val and his wife Isabella. In La Seo, he served as minister and was the youngest singer in the church choir . On August 31, 1250, the 7-year-old Domingito disappeared. Seven months later, his corpse was discovered on the banks of the Ebro [2] (local boaters or boat guards saw a strange glow, which was reported to the authorities [3] ).
According to the version of Bishop Zaragoza Arnaldo de Peralte, the boy was kidnapped by a Jew Moses Albayyus ( Spanish Mosse Albayuzeto , also Albay Certo or Albayhuz [3] ) and brought to the local community , where he became a victim of ritual murder. In an attempt to repeat the Passion of Christ, he was crucified on the wall with three nails, and then gutted and beheaded (some sources mention that his hands [2] or legs [1] were cut off). The corpse was buried on the banks of the Ebro. All the Jews who were imprisoned in this case confirmed under torture everything that the bishop wanted and were executed in Zaragoza Square (there are no documented facts of mass executions, only assumptions of researchers). It is also mentioned that Albayius repented of his deeds and was baptized (became a Catholic) [3] [4] .
The remains of Domingito were brought to the church of St. Aegidius , and then to the cathedral, where in the chapel of Domingito de Valais they are revered as holy relics until now. Sometimes the myth of the desecration of the guest is added to this story, according to which one of the killers went to church with the boy’s heart hidden in the prayer book and the stolen guest, as a result of which the prayer book emitted a wonderful light, and the villain was exposed.
( Goya , 1780-1781).
The historian cites the Latin manuscript Incipit Passio Beati Dominici Martyris Innocentis Cesaravgvust (Passion of the holy and innocent martyr Dominic in Caesarugust [5] ), the authorship of which is attributed to the bishop of 12 years old ( 12) ( 48 as the main source of the legend. and then Zaragoza (from 1248 to 1271) Arnaldo de Peralte. Later the legend is mentioned in the “History of the Spanish Inquisition” by Juan Antonio Llorente [6] and in the studies and works written on its basis, for example, in the chronicle “Torquemada and the Spanish Inquisition” by Rafael Sabatini [7] .
Honor
Domingito de Val is a locally revered saint, the patron saint of singers , ministers and acolytes . There was no official canonization , although Pope Pius VII confirmed the cult in 1805 (according to other sources, according to the script dated July 9, 1808 [2] ). Memorial Day in Catholicism - August 31. However, since 1965, in the new "ordinary" form of the Latin rite, the cult has been absent. In Zaragoza, there is Domingito de Valia street, and Memorial Day is still being managed in some regions.
In addition to the chapel in the Cathedral of La Seo, in the church of in Seville (in some sources the church of St. Philip Neri is given ) from the 19th century there is an altar with the crucified Domingito, next to which there is a sign informing that this the martyr was killed by the Jews. The altar was built by relatives of de Val in 1815 and transported to the church in 1863 [2] . In 2004, the Sephardic Heritage Foundation in Seville blamed the secular and ecclesiastical authorities for not taking action against this cult [8] [9] .
