Born in Brooklyn , New York [4] . He studied at James Madison High School, and then at Cooper Union College, where he studied art [4] . He began his acting career on the stage in the early 1960s, and then began acting on television. Among his television works are roles in the TV series Mission Impossible, She wrote the murder , and The Moonlight Detective Agency . On the big screen, his role in the musical drama The Violinist on the Roof in 1971, which earned him an Oscar nomination, became a landmark for him.
Leonard Frey died in 1988 at the age of 49 from opportunistic illnesses caused by AIDS [4] .
