History

In 1638, in the sentinel book of the Kozelsky Uyezd on the Russian side of the Ktsynskaya Zaseka , among other settlements, the village of Sorokino was mentioned. The proximity of the village to the serif line gives the right to assert that the population provided a militia to protect the Kozelsk serif line [3] .

At the end of the XVIII Sorokino belonged to Princess Maria Alexandrovna Dolgorukova. There were 97 peasant households in the village, there was the church of the great martyr Demetrius Selunskago and a wooden manor house [4] . In 1803, a one-story stone Resurrection Church with a bell tower was built [5] .

In the 1859 List of Populated Places of the Kaluga Province , Sorokino is mentioned as the owner's village of Kozelsky uyezd on the left side of the country road from Plokhin to Bolkhov , which had 162 yards and had its own plant [6] .

After the reform of 1861, the village became part of the Ukolitsky volost. At the church, a parish school was organized [1] .

In the early 1920s, with the enlargement of volosts, the Ukolitsky volost was included in the Veinsky. In 1927, in connection with the abolition of the county, the parish was transferred to the newly formed Sukhinichi district . In 1929, the division into volosts was abolished, after which the village was transferred to the Ukolitsky village council of the Plokhinsky district of the Western Region . In 1937, the district was transferred to Oryol , and in 1944 - to the Kaluga region .

During the Great Patriotic War, German troops occupied the village on January 4, 1942. In the following days, it repeatedly passed into the hands of the 91st Cavalry Division and vice versa, but it was finally released only on July 15, 1943 [7] . A mass grave was organized on the territory of the village school, in which Soviet soldiers who died in the vicinity of Sorokino were buried. In 1983, near the grave was a monument to the villagers who died during the war [8] .
