Biography
Friedrich Ernst Eduard von Meidel, of Ostseen nobles, was born into a German Evangelical Lutheran family in Pastfer ( Paasphere ) in the Estland province , on the Paasphere family estate. His father is the founder of the Kattentak-Pastfer branch, Otto Ernst Eduard von Meidel ( German Otto Ernst Eduard von Maydell ; 1790-1862). His mother is Juliana Magdalene von Grünewaldt ( German: Juliane Magdalene von Grünewaldt ; 1799-1878). In 1849, Friedrich graduated from the Dom School in Revel . He served in the Life Guards of the Cuirassier Regiment .
Since 1861, retired and lived in his family estate Pastfer, where he was engaged in agriculture and social activities. From 1871 to 1878, Friedrich was a county judge. From 1889, Friedrich Ernst was the Ritterschaftshauptmann ( German Ritterschaftshauptmann - the provincial leader of the nobility ), from 1896 to 1899 the Estland Landrat and the head of the Landrata Collegium. He served as president of the Estland Literary Society and the Evangelical Evangelical Consistory ; in commemoration of the merits of Frederick, his coat of arms was placed in the Dome Cathedral in Revel.
Friedrich's wife is Alexandra Sophie Henrietta von Stackelberg ( German: Alexandra Sophie Henriette von Stackelberg ), a baroness from the Stackelberg family. Their children: Katarina Alexandrina (1862-1920); Julia Helena (born 1864); Ernst Alexander (1866-1909); Moritz Alexander Georg (1869-1945), member of the State Council of the Russian Empire ; Eduard Wilhelm Otto (b. 1871): Georg Gottlieb (1874-1891); Anna Julia Alexandra (1876-1920).
