The qualification (qualifying tournament) of the 19th world men's volleyball championship among the countries-members of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) took place from September 15, 2016 to August 14, 2017 . Initially, applications for participation were received from 23 countries, but after refusal of 5 of them, the number of registered participants decreased to 18 [1] There were 4 trips to the World Championship, which were won by the teams of Australia , Iran , China and Japan .

Competition Formula
Asian qualification consists of three stages of selection. At the 1st (subzonal) and 2nd (zonal) stages, selection is carried out within 5 zones into which the Asian Volleyball Confederation is divided - West Asian, Central Asian, South-East Asia, East Asian and Oceania. The 1st (subzonal) stage is provided only in the Central Asian zone (4 of the best teams from this zone were directly admitted to the zonal stage).
The top 5 (rated FIVB in October 2015 [2] ) national teams were directly admitted to the 3rd (final) group round. The remaining participants began the qualifying tournament with the 1st and 2nd stages.
The primary criterion in the distribution of places in groups is the total number of wins, then - the total number of points, the ratio of parties, the goal ratio, the results of personal meetings. For victories with a score of 3: 0 and 3: 1, teams receive 3 points each, for victories 3: 2 - 2 points each, 2: 3 losses - 1 points each, 1: 3 points and 0: 3 points are not awarded.
