La Fe , Fede (Vera) - a 52 cm high sculpture of Donatello made of gilded bronze. It is part of the decoration of the Catholic Church of San Giovanni in the city of Siena , Italy .
History
Two sculptures - La Fe (Vera) and La Esperanza (Hope) were commissioned in 1427 , and completed in 1429 . The sculptor Donatello was assisted by Giovanni di Turino and Goro di Ser Nerochchio.
Description
This is a woman coming out of the tabernacle , wrapped in a heavy robe, holding a bowl in her left hand, which symbolizes the forgiveness of sins.
