Fokion Negris ( Greek Φωκίων Νέγρης , 1846, Constantinople - 1928, Athens ) - Greek geologist , mining engineer [1] and politician .

Biographical information
Fokbon Negros was born in 1846 in Constantinople, in the family of the mathematician Konstantinos Negris . Subsequently, the family moved to Paris , where the early and youthful years of Phocion passed. He graduated from the University of Paris .
In 1870 he returned to Greece, where he was appointed inspector general of the Lavrion mines . In the period 1875 - 1886. served as the director of the Lavrionsky mountain complex [2] , supervised the work at the mines in Kimi and Mantudi.
In 1898 , he was elected a member of the Greek Parliament for the first time from Athens, later elected until 1918. Subsequently, he was twice appointed Minister of Finance (1898, 1901), Minister of Transport (1917) and Minister of the Interior (1918) [3] . In 1918, he received the title of Honorary Doctor of Science at the University of Athens . In 1926 he became a member of the Academy of Athens, and in 1927 he was appointed its first chairman [4] .
