Shen Yue (沈 约; 441 - 513 ) is a Chinese politician, scientist , Buddhist ideologist, historian, writer and poet from the times of the South Qi and Liang dynasties .

Biography
He was born in 441 in the Usin region (modern province of No ). He came from the family of a senior official. Little is known about his life. He held senior positions in the administrative apparatus of the South Qi and Liang dynasties.
History
He is the author of a number of historical works, especially the “ Song Book ” (“Songshu”), which was included in the list of 24 official dynastic stories of China, as well as the subsequently lost “Jin Book” (“Jinshu”).
Poetry
Shen Yue is the founder of the theory of versification, which was crucial for certain forms of poetry of the Tang Dynasty, in particular “lushi. He also formulated the Yuefu genre.
In his literary work, the influence of the Taoism schools of Shangqing-pai and Zhenyi-tao is traced (membership in the latter was a tradition of the Shen clan). He is also the author of love lyrics, in particular the poem Six Memoirs.
Buddhism
His works are presented in a Buddhist anthology of the VII century. “Guang Hong Mingji” (“The Extended Assembly“ The Light of Truth that is Spreading ”). The main one is“ The Meaning of Correlation between Body Form and Spirit ”(“ Xing Shen I ”),“ The Meaning of the Indestructibility of the Spirit ”(“ Shen bu me and ” ), “The Meaning of the Objections of“ Judgments on the Destruction of the Spirit “Fan Zhen” (“Nan Fan Zhen Shenme and”), a comment on the materials of the polemic around the treatise of the materialist philosopher Fan Zhen , “Judgments on the Destruction of the Spirit” (“Shenmelun”). Being an opponent Fan Zheng, Shen Yue completely rejected the thesis of the substantial unity of "bodily form" (xing) and "q ear ”(shen), upholding the idea of“ indestructibility of the spirit ”(shenbume).
