Biography
Born March 7, 1878 in Bursa , Ottoman Empire . In 1894 he graduated from the Military School in Istanbul (Kuleli), and in 1896 from the Military Academy. In 1897 he graduated from the course at the General Staff. He was fluent in French and English.
In 1897, he was a supporter of the constitutional monarchy (Young Turks) among students, as a result of which he was arrested because he was trying to hide his classmate and friend Yusuf Akchur . He was held for 102 days in stone barracks (Taskisla). On September 8, 1897, Ahmed Ferit and others were sent by exile to Tripoli , where they were to serve a year in prison. In 1897, Ahmed Ferit was amnestied and his military rank was returned. Then he worked in the General Staff of the Tripoli department. During this time, Ahmed Ferit met his future wife. Together with Yusuf Akchur in 1900 he fled by boat to Tunisia , and from there to Paris . In Paris, he took part in political life in the exile of other Young Turks and at the same time attended the Higher School of Political Science, which he graduated on June 29, 1903. While studying in Paris , he took part in the first congress of the Young Turks, which took place on February 4, 1902.
Since he could not return to Turkey, he settled in Egypt and wrote in Cairo for a Turkish newspaper. As soon as the Ottoman constitution was declared, he was able to return to Istanbul . He received his first professorship at the University of Administrative Sciences, where he taught political history of the 18th century.
After the deputy of the Turkish parliament, Safeta Pasha, resigned, Ahmed Ferit was elected to the parliament in Kutahya province on November 18, 1909. After he criticized the Republican Party , Ahmed Ferit was expelled from the party. He was not re-elected in the parliamentary elections of 1912.
During the Balkan Wars, Ahmet was the captain where he worked at the General Staff in the Chataldzh area in Istanbul, at the time of signing the London Peace Treaty (1913). After the war, he again worked in a party newspaper. The newspaper was closed in connection with the report of the murder of Mahmoud Shevket Pasha on June 13, 1913.
Political Activities
From August 10, 1918 he was a consul in Kiev for several months, later he lived in Kazan , then he returned to Istanbul .
For a short period he was Minister of Infrastructure in the office of Damat Mehmed Ferid Pasha . He became one of the founders of the National Turkish Party. He was elected from the province of Kutahya to the Ottoman parliament on January 12, 1920. After the parliament was dissolved by the allied occupation authorities, Ahmet Ferit went to Turkey to join the national resistance led by Ataturk .
On May 30, 1920, Ahmed Tek was a member of parliament in Ankara . From July 17, 1920 to May 19, 1921 - Deputy Minister of Finance of Turkey. From May 16, 1921 he was Minister of Finance, but did not stay long in this post as a result of disputes during budget negotiations and resigned with other ministers on November 26, 1921. He was elected to represent the Council of Ministers in Paris. Tech took part as a diplomat in the peace talks in Lausanne.
October 30, 1923 - May 21, 1924 - Minister of the Interior of Turkey.
Since May 6, 1925 - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to London . He remained in this position for seven years, until in 1932 he was appointed ambassador to Warsaw , where he headed the embassy until December 1939. In 1934, after the introduction of surnames in Turkey, he adopted the surname Tek. In 1939, he worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ankara. December 5, 1939 appointed Turkish Ambassador to Tokyo . In 1943, dismissed.
